Disporum uniflorum – Yellow Fairy Bells

Disporum uniflorum – Yellow Fairy Bells is an excellent woodland perennial for shade, with elegant arching stems carrying fresh green, elliptic leaves and delicate pale yellow, bell-shaped flowers in spring, followed by attractive blue-black berries in autumn.

It forms an upright clump reaching around 60cm tall and 30–50cm wide, making it a useful mid-border plant for woodland gardens, shady borders and naturalistic planting.

Grow in partial shade in cool, humus-rich, moist but well-drained acidic to neutral soil, preferably in a sheltered position.

RHS hardiness H6 (-20 to -15°C), Disporum uniflorum is fully hardy in Ireland and the UK and is also known as Yellow Fairy Bells or One-flowered Disporum.
