Hosta (Tardiana group) 'Halcyon' RHS AGM 2 litre

Hosta ‘Halcyon’

Hosta ‘Halcyon’ is a beautiful, medium-sized hosta, prized for its thick, heart-shaped leaves of intense powdery blue-grey. The attractive, slightly cupped foliage has a distinctive waxy coating, helping it retain its striking blue colour throughout much of the growing season. Elegant spikes of pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers rise above the foliage in mid to late summer.

Growing approximately 35–45cm tall and 60–90cm wide, this clump-forming hosta thrives in partial to full shade, preferring moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Protection from strong sunshine helps preserve its beautiful blue colouring, while its thick, substantial leaves offer some resistance to slug and snail damage.

An outstanding choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, containers and naturalistic planting, ‘Halcyon’ provides beautiful foliage contrast, particularly alongside golden-leaved hostas, ferns and other shade-loving perennials.
