Hosta ‘Ki-renjyaku’ – Golden Plantain Lily

Hosta ‘Ki-renjyaku’ is a distinctive deciduous, shade-loving perennial, prized for its broad, rounded, golden-yellow to lime-green leaves and exceptionally unusual double, pale lavender flowers. Flowering in July and August, the beautifully layered blooms are carried on strong, upright stems above the attractive, slightly puckered foliage, making this rare Japanese hosta particularly desirable to collectors.

Growing approximately 40–50cm tall and 60–80cm wide, this hardy hosta thrives in partial or dappled shade, preferring fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Gentle morning sunlight encourages brighter yellow foliage, while protection from strong afternoon sun prevents scorching.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, containers and specialist hosta collections, ‘Ki-renjyaku’ combines outstanding foliage colour with one of the most unusual flower forms found among hostas.
