Farfugium japonicum 'Gigantea' 3 litre

The Leopard Plant from southern China, east Asia and Japan . A wonderful large leafy plant! The glossy green leaves reach a diameter of 45cm (a foot and a half in old money). The plant reaches a height of 80cm, and spreads with its rhizomes, though not in an invasive manner. From October stems of yellow daisy flowers appear. It is at home in damp, humid areas, such as by watercourses or a damp woodland setting. It is hardy to -10°C so in colder area in a cold winter protect with fleece or similar. Away from the midlands it will be hardy in all but the harshest winters.

As an aside the plant is quite edible in different ways, in Japan it is known as tsuwabuki. The stems can be eaten..... but there are a few steps to make them palatable!
