Ophiopogon japonicus Minor P9

Ophiopogon japonicus ‘Minor’

Ophiopogon japonicus ‘Minor’ is a compact, evergreen perennial, valued for its fine, dark green, grass-like foliage and neat, low-growing habit. Narrow, gently arching leaves form dense tufts that gradually spread into an attractive carpet. Small, bell-shaped white to pale lilac flowers appear among the foliage in summer, occasionally followed by ornamental blue-black berries.

Growing just 5–10cm tall, this dwarf Mondo Grass thrives in partial shade and tolerates full sun where sufficient moisture is available. It prefers fertile, slightly acidic to neutral, moist but well-drained soil. Once established, it tolerates periods of dry shade.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, evergreen ground cover, Japanese-style gardens, pathway edging and containers, ‘Minor’ provides year-round greenery with very little maintenance. Particularly effective planted in groups beneath shrubs or alongside ferns, hostas and other shade-loving perennials.
