Hosta 'June' RHS AGM

Hosta ‘June’ – Variegated Plantain Lily

Hosta ‘June’ is a beautiful deciduous, shade-loving perennial, prized for its thick, heart-shaped golden-yellow leaves with striking blue-green margins. The attractive foliage changes colour throughout the season, with the golden centres becoming brighter in gentle sunlight or developing softer chartreuse tones in deeper shade. In summer, elegant spikes of pale lavender-purple, bell-shaped flowers rise above the foliage.

Growing approximately 35–45cm tall and 60–80cm wide, this hardy, clump-forming hosta thrives in partial or dappled shade, preferring fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, containers and planting alongside ferns and other shade-loving perennials, ‘June’ provides outstanding foliage colour from spring until autumn. Its substantial leaves also offer relatively good resistance to slug damage.
