Carex 'Irish Green' P11

Carex ‘Irish Green’

Carex morrowii ‘Irish Green’ is a beautiful, hardy evergreen ornamental sedge, prized for its lush, glossy, deep emerald-green foliage. The slender, arching leaves form dense, gracefully spreading clumps, providing attractive texture and movement throughout the year. Small, inconspicuous, greenish-brown flower spikes appear among the foliage during spring and summer.

Growing approximately 30–45cm tall and 30–45cm wide, this vigorous, low-maintenance sedge thrives in partial shade, tolerating full sun where sufficient moisture is available. It prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil but is adaptable to acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, evergreen ground cover, pathway edging, mass planting and containers, ‘Irish Green’ provides lush, year-round greenery. Its dense foliage helps suppress weeds and contrasts beautifully with hostas, ferns and other shade-loving perennials.
