Camellia japonica ‘Dr King’ – Japanese Camellia

Camellia japonica ‘Dr King’ is a magnificent evergreen flowering shrub, prized for its large, semi-double, rose-red to reddish-pink flowers with beautifully ruffled petals and prominent golden-yellow stamens. The spectacular blooms appear from March to May, providing a wonderful splash of colour against glossy, deep green foliage.

Growing approximately 2.5–4 metres tall and 1–1.5 metres wide at maturity, this upright, bushy camellia thrives in partial to full shade, preferring moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained, acidic to neutral soil. A sheltered position, protected from cold winds and early morning sunshine, helps prevent damage to developing flower buds.
