Begonia grandis subsp. evansiana ‘Alba’ – White Hardy Begonia

A graceful late-summer perennial, Begonia grandis subsp. evansiana ‘Alba’ produces elegant clusters of pure white flowers above attractive, heart-shaped green leaves with contrasting reddish-purple undersides. Growing to around 45–60cm tall, it thrives in partial to full shade and moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil, making it an excellent white flowering plant for shade. This hardy begonia is ideal for woodland gardens, shady borders and naturalistic planting, bringing valuable colour and brightness to darker areas of the garden late in the season. It can also spread gently by self-seeding and small bulbils formed in the leaf axils, creating attractive colonies over time.
