Trillium grandiflorum RHS AGM- P9 (0.5 litre)

Trillium grandiflorum – Large-flowered Trillium

Trillium grandiflorum is a magnificent deciduous woodland perennial, prized for its large, elegant pure white flowers, up to 10cm across, which gradually fade to delicate shades of pink as they mature. Flowering in April and May, each upright stem carries a distinctive whorl of three broad green leaves topped by a single, three-petalled flower.

Growing approximately 30–45cm tall and 30–45cm wide, this long-lived, rhizomatous perennial gradually forms impressive clumps when left undisturbed. Grow in partial to full shade in deep, fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, preferably acidic to neutral.

An outstanding choice for woodland gardens, shady borders and naturalising beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, it combines beautifully with ferns, hostas and other spring woodland plants.
