Selaginella uncinata- Rainbow Spike Moss 1.4 litre

Selaginella uncinata – Peacock Moss / Blue Spikemoss

Selaginella uncinata, commonly known as Peacock Moss, Blue Spikemoss or Rainbow Fern, is a beautiful, low-growing, semi-evergreen perennial, prized for its extraordinary iridescent metallic blue-green foliage. Its delicate, finely divided, fern-like stems spread across the ground, creating a soft, shimmering carpet that changes colour depending on the angle of the light.

Growing approximately 5–10cm tall and spreading 30–50cm wide, this creeping plant thrives in partial to full shade, preferring consistently moist, humus-rich, acidic to neutral soil and a humid, sheltered position. Avoid direct sunlight and allowing the soil to dry out.

An excellent choice for shady containers, terrariums, sheltered woodland gardens and conservatories, where its remarkable blue colouring provides a striking contrast to green foliage.
