Rumohra adiantiformis – Leatherleaf Fern

Rumohra adiantiformis, commonly known as Leatherleaf Fern, Leather Fern or Florist's Fern, is an attractive evergreen fern prized for its glossy, leathery, deep green foliage and elegant, arching habit. Its distinctive, triangular, finely divided fronds are particularly long-lasting, making them popular with florists for cut foliage and flower arrangements.

Growing approximately 50–90 cm high and 60–90 cm wide, this ornamental fern forms a handsome, spreading clump, providing rich texture and year-round greenery.

Thriving in partial to full shade, it prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil with slightly acidic to neutral conditions. Ideal for sheltered woodland gardens, shaded borders, containers, conservatories and indoor planting, it brings lush, architectural foliage to protected spaces.

In Ireland, choose a mild, sheltered position and provide protection during hard frosts.
