Pulmonaria longifolia ‘Diana Clare’ – Lungwort
Pulmonaria ‘Diana Clare’ is an outstanding shade-loving perennial valued for its striking, long silver-green leaves and clusters of rich violet-blue flowers from late winter through spring. The foliage becomes increasingly silver as it matures, providing attractive ground cover long after flowering has finished. A vigorous, semi-evergreen Lungwort, it grows to around 30cm high and 30–45cm wide, gradually forming a dense clump.
Grow in partial or full shade in fertile, humus-rich soil that is moisture retentive but well drained. It is particularly effective in woodland gardens, shady borders, beneath trees and shrubs, or as ground cover, combining beautifully with ferns, Hostas, Epimediums and Hellebores. Its early flowers also provide a valuable source of nectar for bees and other pollinators.
RHS hardiness: H6. RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
