Polystichum tsus-simense - Korean Rock Fern 9cm

Polystichum tsus-simense – Korean Rock Fern

Polystichum tsus-simense, commonly known as Korean Rock Fern, is an attractive, compact evergreen fern prized for its elegant, glossy, dark green foliage and distinctive blackish stems with silvery-white scales. Native to East Asia, this hardy woodland fern produces narrow, finely divided, upright fronds, with fresh green new growth contrasting beautifully against the darker mature foliage.

Forming a neat, shuttlecock-shaped clump approximately 30–45 cm high and 40–50 cm wide, it provides year-round structure and texture in small gardens.

Thriving in partial to full shade, it prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and benefits from protection against excessive winter wet.

Ideal for woodland gardens, shaded rockeries, borders, containers and underplanting shrubs, this reliable, low-maintenance fern combines beautifully with hostas, hellebores and spring bulbs.
