Polystichum braunii (Braun’s holly fern) is a robust, shuttlecock-forming deciduous to semi-evergreen fern, with softly arching, finely divided fronds reaching 60–100 cm tall. It thrives in moist, fertile, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade, preferring cool, sheltered woodland conditions. It is especially admired for its rich, soft texture and golden scales along the stipes, giving the plant a warm, almost furry appearance in spring.

Named after Alexander Carl Heinrich Braun, 1805-1877, a German botanist.
