A charming ground-hugger with a name that sounds like a spell, Omphalodes verna brings bright blue, forget-me-not-like flowers in early spring, nestled above lush green foliage that sticks around to keep weeds at bay.
Reaching just 10–15cm high and spreading steadily (but politely) to form a dense mat, it’s perfect for shady borders, under shrubs, or woodland paths. Loves moist, well-drained soil and part to full shade—give it a cool, damp spot and it’s as happy as a hedgehog in a compost heap. Easy, cheerful, and surprisingly hardworking for something that looks so dainty.
