Liriope muscari ‘Purple Passion’ – a robust, evergreen perennial forming dense clumps of arching, strap-like deep green leaves around 30–45 cm tall and wide. In late summer to early autumn, it produces generous spikes of rich purple flowers, creating a bold splash of colour just as many borders begin to fade.

Thrives in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade, but is adaptable enough to cope with sun (if not too dry) and dappled shade beneath shrubs. Ideal for edging paths, underplanting trees, mass planting, or filling tricky gaps in the border.

The late-season flowers provide nectar for bees and other pollinators, and in mild areas, dark berries may follow. Tough, reliable, and low-maintenance — this is the more dramatic counterpart to white forms like ‘Monroe White’, bringing stronger colour and a little extra seasonal punch.
