Hosta ‘Sun Mouse’ – Golden Miniature Plantain Lily

Hosta ‘Sun Mouse’ is a delightful miniature hosta prized for its thick, rounded, golden-yellow leaves with gently rippled margins. This attractive little hosta forms a neat, spreading mound of luminous foliage. Upright stems bearing lavender-purple, bell-shaped flowers appear in early summer.

Growing approximately 15cm tall and 30–45cm wide, this exceptionally hardy, clump-forming hosta thrives in partial shade, preferring moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Some gentle morning sunshine enhances its golden foliage, while protection from strong afternoon sun prevents scorching. Its thick leaves offer some resistance to slug damage.

An excellent choice for shady rock gardens, miniature woodland gardens, containers, troughs and the front of shaded borders, ‘Sun Mouse’ brings brilliant colour and attractive texture to smaller spaces. Particularly effective alongside blue-leaved hostas and miniature ferns.
