Hosta 'Purple Heart' P11

Hosta ‘Purple Heart’

Hosta ‘Purple Heart’ is a striking deciduous, shade-loving perennial, prized for its glossy, lime-green, heart-shaped leaves held on dramatic deep purple-red, almost black stems. The rich purple colouring extends into the base of each leaf, creating an unusual contrast, while slender, dark reddish stems carry delicate lavender-purple, bell-shaped flowers in late summer.

Growing approximately 40–50cm tall and 50–60cm wide, this hardy hosta thrives in partial to full shade, preferring fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, containers and planting alongside ferns and other shade-loving perennials, ‘Purple Heart’ provides distinctive foliage colour and architectural interest from spring through autumn.
