Hosta 'Fire and Ice' RHS AGM

Hosta ‘Fire and Ice’ – Variegated Plantain Lily

Hosta ‘Fire and Ice’ is a beautiful deciduous, shade-loving perennial, prized for its striking, slightly twisted, heart-shaped leaves with brilliant creamy-white centres and contrasting deep green margins. The gently rippled foliage forms an attractive, compact mound, while elegant spikes of lavender-purple, bell-shaped flowers rise above the leaves in summer.

Growing approximately 30–40cm tall and 45–60cm wide, with taller flowering stems, this hardy hosta thrives in partial or dappled shade, preferring fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, containers and planting alongside ferns and other shade-loving perennials, ‘Fire and Ice’ brings exceptional brightness and contrast to shaded planting schemes.
