Hakonechloa macra ‘Naomi’ – Japanese Forest Grass is an elegant, clump-forming ornamental grass prized for its arching foliage, which starts green with creamy-yellow variegation before developing attractive red-purple tones in autumn. Growing to around 40cm tall and wide, it is particularly effective in a shade garden, woodland border, Japanese-style garden or container, where its flowing habit adds movement and texture.

Grow in moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade or sun, with the foliage colour often richest where the plant receives some shade. A slow-growing, hardy and well-behaved grass, ‘Naomi’ is an excellent choice for softening paths, planting beneath shrubs or creating a graceful groundcover effect.
