Hakonechloa macra - Japanese Forest Grass P9

Hakonechloa macra – a graceful, arching ornamental grass that brings movement and softness to the garden. Forming elegant clumps 30–45 cm tall and wide, its slender green blades cascade like a fountain, catching the light and shifting beautifully with the breeze.

Thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade, where it performs best and develops its richest colour. It will tolerate more sun if kept consistently moist. Ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, containers, or edging paths, where its flowing habit softens harder lines.

Low-maintenance and slow-spreading, it provides long-lasting texture from spring through autumn, turning warm golden tones before winter dormancy. A subtle but sophisticated addition to any shade planting scheme.
