Dryopteris filix-mas 'Linearis Polydactyla' Forked Male Fern RHS AGM 2 litre

Dryopteris filix-mas 'Linearis Polydactyla' – Fingered Male Fern

Dryopteris filix-mas 'Linearis Polydactyla', commonly known as Fingered Male Fern, is a distinctive, hardy deciduous fern prized for its unusually delicate, finely divided foliage. A fascinating cultivated form of the native Male Fern, it produces elegant, arching green fronds with long, narrow, widely spaced leaflets, each ending in attractive, finger-like, forked tips.

Forming an airy, shuttlecock-shaped clump approximately 100–120 cm high and 50–100 cm wide, this unusual ornamental fern brings lightness and texture to shaded planting schemes.

Thriving in partial to full shade, it prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil, but tolerates some dry shade once established. I

deal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, underplanting trees and naturalistic planting, its graceful foliage contrasts beautifully with broad-leaved hostas and other shade-loving perennials.

RHS AGM: Award of Garden Merit.
