Dryopteris affinis 'Pinderi'

Dryopteris affinis ‘Pinderi’ – Pinder’s Golden-scaled Male Fern

Dryopteris affinis ‘Pinderi’ is an elegant, evergreen to semi-evergreen fern prized for its distinctive narrow, lance-shaped fronds and graceful, upright shuttlecock habit. The finely divided fronds emerge a fresh yellow-green in spring, gradually deepening to rich green, while attractive golden-brown scales along the stems provide additional interest.

Growing to approximately 90–100cm tall and 80–100cm wide, this hardy fern thrives in partial to full shade in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, although established plants tolerate occasional dry conditions.

An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, planting beneath deciduous trees and naturalistic fern collections, ‘Pinderi’ combines architectural form with year-round foliage interest.
