Dodecatheon meadia 'Alba' RHS AGM P9
€6.00
Dodecatheon meadia f. album, commonly called the white shooting star, is a delicate, woodland wildflower with a touch of elegance and drama. Growing 20–40 cm tall, it forms basal clumps of lance-shaped green leaves from which arise slender stems topped with white, nodding, star-shaped flowers in late spring. The petals sweep back gracefully, giving the appearance of stars in mid-flight.
It thrives in partial shade to full sun, preferring moist, well-drained soil and a naturalistic, slightly sheltered spot. Once established, it is low-maintenance and can naturalize happily in borders or meadow-style plantings.
Interesting fact: The “shooting star” flowers move slightly in the wind, creating a subtle, enchanting dance effect — a botanical performance in miniature that never fails to charm.
Awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. (RHS AGM).
