Cyrtomium fortunei 'Clivicola'

Cyrtomium fortunei var. clivicola – Japanese Holly Fern

Cyrtomium fortunei var. clivicola, often sold as Cyrtomium fortunei 'Clivicola', is a distinctive evergreen fern valued for its broad, leathery, holly-like green leaflets and graceful, arching fronds.

More compact and spreading than typical Cyrtomium fortunei, it forms an elegant clump approximately 40–50 cm high and wide, bringing bold foliage texture and year-round interest to shady gardens.

This ornamental woodland fern thrives in partial or full shade, in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil, and is ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, sheltered courtyards and containers, particularly alongside hostas, epimediums and other shade-loving perennials.

It is an excellent choice for introducing architectural evergreen foliage without overpowering neighbouring plants.
