A beautiful fern, not strictly a tree fern, though it does produce a trunk over time. This variety is noted for the extra intensity and frequency of the red new fronds, slowly maturing to green.
Prefers warm conditions and moist acidic/neutral soil. Light shade produces the best colour. Hardy to around -7C. Below 0c the fronds will blacken so best brought inside over winter. I have seen some say this variety is fully hardy when mature...it is not.
