Hardy Begonia
Hardiness Zone 6-9.
A fabulous hardy Begonia that flowers freely in shade. It makes a spectacular plant in the shady border or in a container. Deciduous, the plant leaves turn orange before dying down in winter to its tuber before emerging in late spring. In colder areas it may not emerge until early June. The leaves, rich green on top and red underneath, help give the garden an exotic feel, especially when the pink flowers emerge in late summer. produces bulbils which will gerimante in suitable conditions.
Well drained fertile soil with an autumn mulch of leafmould or compost is ideal for this wonderful plant.
