Athyrium nipponicum 'Silver Falls' RHS AGM P9
€5.00
Athyrium nipponicum ‘Silver Falls’ is a beautifully refined Japanese painted fern, typically reaching 30–40 cm tall with a gently spreading, layered habit. Its delicately divided fronds shimmer in shades of silvery pewter, soft green, and hints of purple, creating the impression that someone has quietly dusted the plant with moonlight when you weren’t looking.
It thrives in partial to full shade, preferring moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and a cool spot out of hot afternoon sun. Add a little organic mulch and consistent moisture, and it will reward you by looking effortlessly stylish — a fern with natural highlights and absolutely no salon bills.
Interesting fact: Despite its elegant, almost fragile appearance, this fern is remarkably hardy and long-lived, proving once again that good looks and toughness are not mutually exclusive in the plant world.
