Astrantia major ‘White Joyce’ – White Masterwort

Astrantia major ‘White Joyce’ is a hardy, deciduous perennial with elegant white pincushion flowers, subtly tinged green, surrounded by a star-like collar of papery bracts. Flowering from early summer above deeply lobed green foliage, it brings lightness to cottage gardens and partially shaded borders. Estimated mature size: 50–80 cm tall and up to 50 cm wide, depending on growing conditions.

Plant in sun or partial shade in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Water during dry spells and remove faded flowering stems to encourage further blooms. Avoid deep shade and excessively dry conditions.

An attractive choice for cut flowers and dried arrangements, ‘White Joyce’ combines beautifully with hardy geraniums, ferns and ornamental grasses.
