Evergreen, height to 15cm.
Of all the wild gingers this has to be the best! Superb, robust and very reliable ground cover plant for shade offering all year round greenery. The leaves are beautifully marked, similar to Cyclamen foliage. It spreads nicely with underground rhizomes to male an effective ground cover for drier shade. The purple flowers appear March to April on the underside of the plant where they are pollinated by beetles, flies and small moths. A very hardy Chinese native, to below -20C! Give it a good fertile well drained soil.
